Loxbeare July Update 2022

Thank you to her Majesty the Queen for her 70years of service to our country and commonwealth.

It was good to be part of the Jubilee Choir Service at Oakford on 29 May.  A lovely service with the newly formed choir singing the Jubilee song 'A life with grace' & also 'Down by the river to pray'.  Excellent.  This was followed by a bring & share lunch.  Thank you to everyone.

A huge thank you to the Loxbeare Village Hall Committee & to everyone else who helped in any way to make our Platinum Jubilee Celebrations so enjoyable.  On Thursday 2, we had a BBQ & lighting of the beacon with wonderful views & it was good to see many other beacons & fireworks around.

The Big Jubilee bring & share lunch was held Sunday in Arthur's barn instead of outside due to the inclement weather.  Jubilee mugs were given out which will be a lovely keepsake of the 70years service of our queen.  Finishing the few days celebrating a Songs of Praise was held in the evening with songs chosen by the congregation.

On 3 July we will be holding a BBQ at the Hall at 12.30 with a service to follow.  All welcome.  17 July will be Morning Praise at 10.45.  7 August Evening Praise at 6.30 and the 21 August Morning Praise at 10.45.

There will be a PCC meeting on 11 July.

We send our sympathy to Marlene Taylor & family on the death of Maurice on 12 May, the day after their 65 wedding anniversary.  Maurice was born at Tedburn St Mary, was brought up & later worked on the family farm after leaving school, marrying Marlene in 1957.  They moved to Little Holmead Loxbeare in 1961 & farmed dairy cattle until retiring to Dartrise in 2001.  He was the game keeper of the 'Dartrise' shoort for many years.  He and Marlene organised many events & to date have raised approx £28,000 for Devon Air Ambulance.

Our thoughts & prayers continue to be with Steve Troake & all who are unwell.

Congratulations to Peter Barlow & Charlotte on their forthcoming wedding at Dartmouth.

Happy Birthday to all with birthdays in July/August & for those celebrating special occasions.

The Cream teas will be on 9 July & 13 July in the Village Hall 3-4.30.

On Friday 29 July a car treasure hunt is being organised starting at the carpark from 6 onward & finishing at the Hall for bring & share food & bring own drinks.

Hope you all enjoy the summer months & we get plenty of sunshine!!
