Loxbeare March Round Up

It is good to see the signs of spring with many flowers & buds already making their appearance giving us hope of longer & hopefully warmer days.

Christmas seems so long ago now but we held a carol service on 19 December with the congregation participating and singing many of our favourite carols, taken by Jean & Carol.  A donation of £200 was sent to Vranch House.  No service was held on Christmas Day or Boxing Day, but Steph led a communion service with Clare, & Dave Edwards & Sue Rivett provided the music, leading us into the celebrations & thanks to God for sending Jesus to be our Saviour.  Many thanks to all who helped decorate the Church & organised & took part in the services or helped in any way over the Christmas period.

Although the carol singing around the villages of Loxbeare & Calverleigh disappointedly was cancelled because of Covid risk, Sue, Aubrey & Jackie received donations totalling £300 which was divided between the Motor Neurone Disease & Cancer Research.  Many thanks to those who gave so generously.

On the 6 March & 3 April, there will be Morning Worship & 13 March there will be a cluster service at Loxbeare.  Please check the middle pages for all dates & times of services & also for our Good Friday/Easter Sunday services.

On the 27 March, we will be having a Mothering Sunday Breakfast starting at 9.30 with the service at 10.30.  Both in the Village Hall.  Do come & join us & share a time of thanks for Mums everywhere & to worship God together.

We continue to pray for Maurice Taylor, Steve Troake & all who are unwell & for those feeling the effects of the winter months, are lonely & the Covid virus still affecting many people.  We continue to pray for all medical staff & care workers & thank them for their commitment to looking after patients.

Happy Birthday to all with birthdays in March/April & for anyone who will be celebrating special occasions.

There will be cream teas & a bring & buy stall on the 12 March & 9 April, 3.30-4.30.  Money raised will be donated each month to support various chosen charities.  If you would like to volunteer by helping to bake cakes or serve cream teas & would like to be on the rota, please contact Carol Radford on 01884 881480 or Jean 881400.

On 6 April there will be a Bingo evening, doors open at 7.00, eyes down at 7.30.

Forward dates: Sat 21 May at 5 for 5.30 start (weather permitting) Mystery Walk around Tiverton (1.5 miles/2hours to complete)  The town you think you know! Congratulations to our Queen on the wonderful achievement of 70years as Head of our Country & Commonwealth. She has given up much to faithfully fulfil her promise to serve the country and has often spoken of and shown her faith in God.  We are grateful to have had her as Queen for so long & may God bless her & enable her to stay well to be able to enjoy the celebrations during the year.

The Queen's Platinum Jubilee will be celebrated in the evening of Thursday 2 June with a BBQ, followed by the Lighting of the Beacon & on Sunday 5 June there will be a Big Jubilee Lunch.  More details to follow.
