Next Steps

I have met with representatives from all the parishes this week to discuss the lifting of legal restrictions. We hope to move forward cautiously, recognising that we all feel differently about this, and want everyone to feel comfortable and safe worshipping in church. We realise that at times, particularly at large ‘life events’ we may need to take measures to make this possible. We are particularly conscious that there are many who feel anxious and afraid, have underlying health conditions or have not yet been double vaccinated. You only have to go into town to realise that many people are still choosing to wear masks, and some shops will not admit you, unless you do so. Do please pray that we manage this stage sensitively as we travel gently together.

Bishop Robert has recorded a film talking about the Diocesan Vision and our next steps. He talks about the importance of Mission Communities working together to create what he called a ‘mixed ecology of church’. It is well worth watching and you can view it on the Exeter Diocese website. Put ‘vision strategy or Next Steps’ into the search bar and Bishop Robert should appear!

Here are some words of hope to take with you into the coming week.

You are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble.
You surround me with songs of victory.
The Lord says, ‘I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you.’

Psalm 32

God be with you this week,

Steph
