Exe Valley Mission Community

News:

What next?

Our Archdeacons held a webinar on Thursday to discuss the lifting of legal restrictions and what it means for us. We have yet to receive official guidance from government or the Church of England, but that will probably happen this week. Your churchwardens and I hope to meet this week to discuss how best to proceed so that everyone feels comfortable coming to church. Please pray for us as we meet.

In addition, a group of us are going to Mill House to pray about the future. There will be a chance later in the summer for everyone to join in the conversation and for us to pray together. Do please pray about the way forward. At the archdeacon’s visitation this week on zoom we were shown a film from Bishop Robert, who was talking about the next steps and the importance of Mission Communities working together to create what he called a ‘mixed ecology of church’. It is well worth watching and you can view it on the Exeter Diocese website.

Put ‘vision strategy or Next Steps’ into the search bar and Bishop Robert should appear!

I read this prayer this week. May it be a blessing to you.

Open unto me, light for my darkness
Open unto me, courage for my fear
Open unto me, hope for my despair
Open unto me, peace for my turmoil
Open unto me, joy for my sorrow
Open unto me, strength for my weakness
Open unto me, wisdom for my confusion
Open unto me, forgiveness for my sins
Open unto me, tenderness for my toughness
Open unto me, love for my hates
Open unto me, Thy Self for myself
Lord, Lord, open unto me!

(Howard Thurman – Meditations of the Heart, Beacon Press August 1, 1999)

May our Father God travel with you this week,
Steph
