Coffee Morning

It has been good to see so many of you at our weekly coffee morning. I have now scheduled this as a recurring meeting (i.e. happening at the same time every week), Wednesday at 10.30am. Hopefully, you should either be able to access the meeting though the link, or by using the meeting ID. No password is required.

Bible Study

It has been great to study the Bible together on Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm. I had scheduled this as a recurring meeting, but we seemed to have some problems with it last week. So, I have reverted to scheduling it as a specific meeting, with its own meeting ID and password for each week. We’ll see if that helps! From Wednesday 27 May we will be studying 1, 2 and 3 John.

Ascension Day and Thy Kingdom Come – 21-31 May 2020

For the last few years, the days between Ascension Day and Pentecost have been designated as days of prayer, across the world, and is known as ‘Thy Kingdom Come’. We are asked to pray for five people throughout this time. We will continue to hold a short conference call service at midday, ending with our normal Sunday service on Pentecost Sunday. Service sheets will be available via the website or by email.

We will also be joining in with the Diocesan Wave of Prayer throughout the week. Do please pray whenever is convenient for you, but Robert, Andy Humm and I have committed to come together as Tiverton churches to pray from 11.00pm on Wednesday 27 May to 8.00am on Thursday 28 May. Insomniacs please join us!

There will be a ‘live stream’ service from Exeter Cathedral in the evening. Look at the Diocesan website for details.

Film Club

The film we will be discussing at our next meeting is ‘Educating Rita’ which was shown on BBC1 and is still available on BBC iplayer or Netflix. We will meet to chat about the film on Zoom Monday 1 June at 2.30pm.

Robert and Steph’s ALPHA on ZOOM

Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the basis of the Christian faith. Each session looks at a different question that people have about faith. It is a chance to explore some of life’s big questions. There’s no obligation to say anything and there’s nothing you can’t say! It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment. Whether you’ve just started to think about faith and you’d like to learn a little more, or you’ve been going to church for years – and you’re still not sure what you believe, come and join us. The course starts on Tuesday 7 July 2020 at 7.00pm, throughout July and August. More details will be given out nearer the time. And if you would like to join us, but don’t know how to use Zoom, please let us know and we will try to help you.

Youtube

This week’s Youtube reflection should be available for you to watch on Sunday.

Steve

Steve is keen to get back to work – and I am keen that he does! However, because of the restrictions in place he cannot work from The Rectory and so we are trying to make it possible for him to work from home. Do pray for Steve, Henrietta and their family.

We continue to wait and see how the lifting of restrictions will affect us and the things we do. Let’s continue to lift one another in prayer.

Do please pray for wisdom and discernment as we make decisions about the future.

With my love and continued prayers,

Steph
