The Avowal
Thank you to everyone who joined in with our services over Palm Sunday, Holy Week and Easter Day. Thank you for all your love and support, during a time in which I felt more ‘Good Friday’ than ‘Easter Sunday’! I have been sharing this poem with people as it sums up how I feel. I hope you find it helpful too!
The Avowal by Denise Levertov
As swimmers dare
to lie face to the sky
and waters bear them,
as hawks rest upon air
and air sustains them,
so would I learn to attain
free fall, and float
into Creator Spirit’s deep embrace,
knowing no effort earns
that all-surrounding grace.
